These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern access to Koinus, including the website, iPhone and Android apps, and related services (the “Service”), operated by Koinus LLC (“Koinus,” “we”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

Who may use Koinus

You must be at least 13. If you are under 18, you may use Koinus only with a parent or guardian’s permission. The Service is a personal household ledger, not a product for children.

Nature of the Service

Koinus lets you enter or confirm income and expenses, assign amounts to envelopes, share books with a household partner, and optionally use Scan to propose a payee, amount, date, and category from a file or text you provide.

The Service is not a bank, credit union, money transmitter, broker-dealer, investment adviser, tax preparer, or law firm. We do not take deposits, transfer funds, issue payment instruments, or access your financial institution. Nothing in the Service is financial, tax, investment, or legal advice. You remain solely responsible for your budgets, bills, taxes, and any action you take based on figures in the books.

Your account

Each person signs in with their own email and password, or with Apple or Google. Do not share a password. Confirm your email before the books open, unless you signed in with Apple or Google, which already confirm the address. You are responsible for activity under your login. Household sharing is an invitation: two people, two logins, one set of books on the Household plan.

Plans and billing

New accounts include a 6-day trial. Purchases, upgrades, and restoring purchases are currently unavailable in this version. Planned pricing, if we later enable billing, is Solo at $5.99 a month or $59 a year, and Household at $7.99 a month or $79 a year for two people. Displaying a plan or price does not create a paid subscription.

If we enable in-app purchases through the Apple App Store or Google Play, payment will be charged to your Apple or Google account at confirmation. Subscriptions auto-renew unless you turn off renewal at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel in Apple ID settings or Google Play subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. We do not receive your card number.

If you already have a subscription, use the provider on your receipt to manage or cancel it. For other billing questions, email support@koinus.com. Future purchases will show the actual price, length, renewal, cancellation, and refund terms before you confirm payment.

Files you scan or upload

Receipts, statements, paystubs, screenshots, and pasted text are processed on your device. After reading finishes or you cancel, Koinus releases its temporary copies of the source file and raw text. The scanner does not write them to device storage, upload them to our servers, share them, or send them to an AI service. Only the budget entries you confirm are saved to your household books. Koinus does not delete the original file from your device, browser, email, or cloud. Details are in the document policy.

Scan is an optional aid. It may omit a charge, read an incorrect amount or date, assign the wrong envelope, or fail to read a file. You must review each proposed line before it is recorded. You may edit or delete a line afterward. The books reflect only the entries you confirm or enter by hand.

Support mail

If you email Support and attach a screenshot, you are sending that message so we can answer you. That is not a scan. We do not add the picture to your books. Do not attach bank statements, full card numbers, or passwords.

Acceptable use

Use Koinus for your own household records. Do not attempt to break into another account, scrape the Service, interfere with other users, or upload files you do not have the right to use.

Termination and deletion

You may stop using Koinus and delete your account at any time (Settings → Account → Delete account, or the deletion page). We may suspend or close an account that violates these Terms or that we must close to protect the Service or other users. Deletion does not cancel a store subscription.

Disclaimer of warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, KOINUS AND KOINUS LLC DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR FREE OF ERRORS, OR THAT SCAN WILL IDENTIFY EVERY TRANSACTION OR CATEGORY CORRECTLY.

Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, KOINUS AND KOINUS LLC SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, LOST DATA, MISSED PAYMENTS, OVERDRAFTS, TAX CONSEQUENCES, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE OR THESE TERMS, WHETHER IN CONTRACT, TORT (INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE), OR OTHERWISE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE TOTAL LIABILITY OF KOINUS AND KOINUS LLC FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE OR THESE TERMS SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE SUBSCRIPTION FEES YOU PAID TO US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR (B) TEN U.S. DOLLARS (US$10.00) IF YOU HAVE PAID NO FEES.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations. In those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law, including liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

Indemnity

You will defend and indemnify Koinus LLC against claims, damages, and reasonable expenses arising from your use of the Service, your files or text, or your breach of these Terms, except to the extent caused by our willful misconduct.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict of law rules, except that the Apple App Store or Google Play terms may also apply to purchases made through those stores. If a court finds a part of these Terms unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.

Changes

We may update these Terms as the product changes. The date at the top is the current version. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms. Questions: support@koinus.com.
